Elements - Lady Bay

100m2 - sleeps 4

Welcome to Elements at Lady Bay, a unique off grid property in the Far South of Tasmania. We are the owner builders and have put much love and dedication into this project. This is a spacious passive solar rammed earth and timber house lovingly decorated and with stunning views over the Southern d’Entrecasteaux Channel and across to South Bruny Island. Sea Eagles are gliding by daily, Swift parrots are seasonal visitors and native hens love to roam outside the house.

A beautiful remote location reached by 4 km of dirt road and with very limited internet connectivity, this property is suitable for those who enjoy nature and love to get away from it all. The house sits on a 1 ha property.

Nearby are rocky coves, beaches, bushwalks, Hastings Caves and the stunning Southwest Wilderness.

The space

Elements has everything needed for a relaxed stay. A woodfire keeps the place warm during the cooler months. Sufficient firewood for your stay is provided. There are two bedrooms both with queensize beds with quality linen. Elements is perfect for one or two couples. The open plan living area offers expansive views of trees, sky and water. The full size kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and oven. The bathroom features a freestanding bath and walk-in shower.

Guest access

Elements is just for you. We live a few kilometres away and are available by phone should you require assistance.

Check in 2 pm / Check out 10 am

Other things to note

Elements is not suitable for children under 16 years as it is perched on a cliff property.

The property is frequented by wildlife which we love. However, this makes it not suitable for pets.

We do not recommend that you arrive after dark. The last two km’s of Lady Bay road are quite narrow and there is lots of wildlife around. Please drive slowly.

Elements is a passive solar and well insulated house. The only heating is a woodheater in the living area. The bedrooms are unheated but there are warm doonas and blankets.

Rug up and be prepared for an invigorating experience. Tasmania is infamous for changing weather. It can be wet and windy, Roaring Forties windy!

Elements is remote, off grid and we collect rainwater. Water and power are limited. However, it is sufficient for normal daily use during a guest’s stay. We do ask guests to be mindful of water usage and careful power usage is appreciated.

The Optus signal is pretty good considering the location and Telstra is just a little patchy. We understand Vodafone is ok throughout the house.

Lady Bay is a rural setting with cattle on the neighbouring property and a few residents live in the general area. Please be considerate of our neighbours. No parties or loud music!

The closest shop is a small store in the Southport Hotel which is 6 km away. Dover, 23km from Lady Bay has an IGA, Post Office, Bendigo Bank, Cafes, Doctor and Pharmacy.

Facilities include - crisp linen - doonas - blankets - hot water bottles - bathroom with freestanding bath/shower/toilet - toiletries - wood heater - blue tooth speaker - board games - books  -  teas/coffees - gas stove and oven - full size fridge/freezer
